AGRION lays the foundation stone for a new fertilizer factory in partnership with Cerradão, in Frutal (MG)

AGRION laid the foundation stone for its third industrial unit, in partnership with Cerradão, in Frutal (MG). With an initial investment of R$ 46 million and a projected capacity of 70 thousand tons annually, the factory will use waste from the sugar-energy chain in the production of organomineral fertilizers. The project reinforces the company's expansion strategy, the circular economy, and regional development.

AGRION Fertilizantes took another important step in its industrial expansion plan with the laying of the foundation stone for its third unit, held on October 28, 2026, in Frutal, in the Triângulo Mineiro. The project will be built in partnership with Cerradão Açúcar, Etanol e Bioenergia, within the industrial complex of the mill, and represents an investment of R$ 46 million in its first phase.

The project reinforces AGRION's strategy to expand its operations in the organomineral fertilizer sector through industrial units installed alongside sugar-energy mills. The model integrates fertilizer production with the utilization of waste from industrial activity, connecting circular economy, productive efficiency, and regional development.

The ceremony brought together representatives from the companies involved, authorities, and partners who are following this new phase of AGRION's journey. The initiative also received recognition from representatives of the municipality of Frutal, who highlighted the importance of the investment for generating opportunities and strengthening the local economy.

Investment of R$ 46 million and expansion of production capacity

The new industrial unit will have approximately 6,500 square meters of built area. In the first phase, the factory will have an estimated production capacity of 70 thousand tons of fertilizers per year, with operations expected to begin in June 2027.

The project has also been planned for a second phase of expansion, which could increase the total capacity to up to 205 thousand tons annually. The expansion is expected to increase the workforce from approximately 50 to up to 90 professionals.

The scale of the project makes the Frutal unit the largest industrial plant of AGRION to date, consolidating an important advancement in production capacity and market service.

The expansion forecast demonstrates the potential of the partnership and aligns with the company's strategy to develop increasingly integrated industrial structures with the operations of the mills.

Partnership with Cerradão strengthens the circular economy

The installation of the factory within the Cerradão complex represents a model of integration between the sugar-energy industry and fertilizer production.

The unit will use waste generated in the processing of cana-de-açúcar, especially torta de filtro and vinhaça, as raw materials for the manufacture of organomineral fertilizers.

Through this process, materials from industrial activity undergo treatment, composting, and stabilization stages, and are subsequently used in the production of fertilizers intended for crop nutrition.

The initiative contributes to the strategic utilization of resources available in the mills, transforming waste into value-added solutions for agribusiness.

This model also favors the integration between different stages of the production chain: the waste generated by the industry returns to the field as part of a fertilization solution, strengthening the principles of the circular economy.

Regional development and job creation in Frutal

In addition to the industrial investment, the arrival of the new unit represents an important contribution to the economic development of Frutal and the municipalities in the region.

The first phase of the project anticipates the generation of approximately 50 direct jobs, with the possibility of reaching around 90 job positions after the completion of the second phase.

The installation of the factory also expands economic movement opportunities in different segments, strengthening the regional production chain and bringing the fertilizer industry closer to rural producers.

The partnership was highlighted by representatives of the municipality, who recognized the potential of the project to attract investments, generate jobs, and expand local development opportunities.

AGRION expands its presence in the fertilizer sector

The Frutal unit is part of AGRION's industrial expansion plan, which has been increasing its presence through strategic partnerships with sugar-energy mills.

The company already has an operational unit in Tupaciguara (MG), in partnership with Bioenergética Aroeira, and is advancing in the implementation of another unit in Ibirarema (SP), in partnership with Enersugar and NovAmérica.

With the new venture in Frutal, AGRION strengthens its operational model, based on the installation of industrial units close to waste sources and fertilizer consumer markets.

The strategy allows for the integration of different stages of the production chain, from the treatment of industrial waste to the manufacture of fertilizers intended for agriculture.

The expansion also aligns with the search for alternatives that contribute to increasing national fertilizer production and reducing challenges related to dependence on external inputs.

A new chapter for AGRION and Brazilian agribusiness

The laying of the foundation stone in Frutal represents more than the beginning of a new industrial construction. The project symbolizes the advancement of a business model that connects industry, agriculture, and sustainability through the circular economy.

The partnership with Cerradão reinforces the capacity to transform waste from the sugar-energy chain into high-value organomineral fertilizers, creating opportunities for the mills and expanding the nutrition alternatives available to rural producers.

With investment, technology, and expansion planning, AGRION continues to strengthen its role in Brazilian agribusiness and contribute to a more integrated, efficient, and sustainable production chain.

The new unit in Frutal reaffirms AGRION's commitment to innovation, the intelligent use of waste, and the development of solutions that transform industry challenges into opportunities for the field.
